1801 - a public meeting was held at the City Tavern on 14 February 1801.
1800-1808 - "Lewis's tavern was at this time either the corner of Washington, now South-pearl and State street, on the present site of 78 State street. Robert Lewis died June 17th, 1798, aged 73, and was succeeded by his son Stewart Lewis." From Random recollections of Albany, from 1800 to 1808 by Gorham Worth, 1866, page 115.
