Not asking you to join in any great panic but something is happening with the good folk who are my server masters which has got me copying the archives on to WordPad files from the source code ten posts at a time. I am sure I just entirely misunderstand but you are warned - if things go badly all the comments will go so save your favorites as you must.
I am sure everything will be fine but it has me wondering what if it were not. We all have these why do I blog moments but having just saved around 750 posts back to 5 June 2006 it does give you pause. Especially as the other blog sits at 4101 posts in addition to the 1282 here.
I could have learned French, Finnish and the tuba in the time it's taken to write all that. I'd be good at the tuba.

The what-else-I-could-have-been-doing issue makes me glad I don't blog more frequently. My tuba playing would be decidedly sub-par at this rate.
I hope your hosting issues are resolved successfully. And thanks for a reminder that I should probably back up my three-and-a-bit years of content.

Hope it sorts Alan. If not look forward to a tuba rendition in Finnish.

No need to panic. There will be a few brief interruptions as we move to new IPs and sort out DNS issues, but your 1284 posts here and 4113 are not in any danger. Also a re-development of our blog platform is currently underway and we'll be migrating you over to that this summer.

Hooray!
I know I am a web whimp but, as an admitted internet addict, I get the shakes around these sorts of things. Even if it does tend to put things in perspective, I am happy to know that my server masters are far more sensible about these things. I have the greatest sys admin on the planet.

Yes, but if you didn't he'd just unscrupulously add sentences like that to the end of your comments anyway. Also he's hung like a horse.

Alan, if you should ever decide to have a go with Finnish, do not use the recently introduced Google Translate Finnish feature. You would be better off with tuba. :-)
