Contest: More Prizes For More Poetry

Enough long winded guff. You want prizes and I want poetry. The rules? We got rules, sure - plenty of them:
- You may submit any poem on the subject of beer as long as you wrote it. No format or minimum length.
- I will judge them - extra points for the best use of the letters "j" and "q".
- The winners get prizes.
As noted in the announcement, we are giving out tickets to
TAP NY 2008 and all the free beer, great food and a weekend beer people for a weekend, 26 and 27 April 2008 at the Hunter Mountain Resort in the Catskills in upper downstate New York. Seeing as that great prize is somewhat geographically focused to the mid-Atlantic states, I have also dug into the barrel of prizes to find two new never worn XL t-shirts, one for
Jolly Pumpkin of Dexter, Michigan and another for
Wellington Brewery of Guelph, Ontario. These will be given to the best poems from elsewhere...the un-mid-Atlantic amongst you. Because we need poetry. Your poetry. By 10:00 pm, Monday March 31st, 2008.

Olde Enkidu unwashed bestial man
Took bread & beer from prostitutes hand
Gilgamesh’s trickery custom of the land
Ancient oral sages tell of beasts & beer
Nectar of the gods & Sumerian cheer
One man’s tomfoolery turns another’s to fear
Seven beers & Enkidu’s heart soared
Liquid gold was mightier than the sword
One man’s weakness is another’s restored
Ninkasi hymn of devotion & bliss
Was it the beer or the prostitute’s kiss
That sent Enkidu into the human abyss
What elixir turns animal to human
As it passes through the intestinal lumen
For us today it makes us subhuman
