A Good Beer Blog

Alan, this is a very well written post - I really enjoyed reading it, so thanks. Your summing up is spot on. You've also made me want to read Jackson's book all the more.

Ok...you have to stop with posts like this. I just ordered both books.

Thanks!

Didn't you know I am a front for the book publishers' association?

Stonch,

Your comment reminds me that Michael might have had greater fame in the US than UK. The newspaper columns make that harder to measure, but certainly his books. He could occupy three hours non-stop signing books at the great American Beer Festival.

You need to own "The English Pub" and "Michael Jackson's Beer Companion."

Stan, do you any idea if the 1970s "Boston on Beer" columns ever got collected? I found one set of his eccentric essays but there isn't any of his beer writing in it.

Stan Hieronymus -

I have no idea.

Let's hope Martyn Cornell chimes in.

I went away and found a copy of his 1976 "Beer & Skittles" for sale used via Amazon UK. I will let you know how that plays out. He passed away only ten months or so before Michael Jackson.
