Donavan is doing a great job holding the fort and Gary already has a post lined up for me to post when I get some time between lobster rolls and Allagash whites but just a heards up to say we stopped in at the Madison Brewing Company in Bennington Vermont and had a great lunch. Andy Crouch in his book on New England beer regretfully indicated there had been serious issues with their beer when he visited in the past but, going only by my half of Old 76 Strong Ale, they may have gotten on top of it. Great staff, kid friendly, good pub food and a great space, too. Definitely worth a revisit.
Then, heading into Maine, we hit the new and much expanded Tully's Beer and Wine in Well's and their selection is incredible. Owner Dawn told me she has hired beer nerd Keith and given him the swing away signal. Amazing selection as I discussed with her staff and her fans. Did I mention that selection thing before? Including the holy grail for this summer - half bottles of Cantillon. Perhaps I can keep the Tums in the medicine cabinet.
More on these and other beery observations from the road later.

I went to college in Bennington, long before there was a brew pub, and it was all Miller or Genessee back then..........
