Introducing Evan Rail In Prague

What do you know! I got an email the other day from Evan Rail in Prague, shown right with a brew:

Hey Alan and everyone!

I really enjoy the Good Beer Blog! It's a fantastic source of information about what's brewing in the world. I live in the Czech Republic, which is (ahem!) a pretty decent place for beer, too. I wanted to let you know (and maybe your readers) that I just wrote an article about Czech "special," a category of strong beers roughly akin to German Bocks. If this article would be of interest to your readers, please feel free to let them know.

In the future, I'll be writing more articles about Czech beer as we get closer to the publication of my book, Good Beer Guide: Prague and the Czech Republic which is forthcoming in May from CAMRA in England. Keep up the good work with GBB, and all best wishes from Prague!

Fantastic. If you know anything about me you know I love a story that has a photo with this caption: "The brewery grounds include a beer garden, hall and bowling alley." Sounds like the making of a story on the Czech experience for the Pub Game Project. Also, if you know anything about me, I have invited Evan to send any stories he may have from Prague as posts for A Good Beer Blog. A Central European perspective would be a great addition...as would a West Coast USA one...and an Aussie...and where did that Argentinian guy who was nosing around go anywhere.

Anyway, I trust you all have your pre-orders in for CAMRA's Good Beer Guide: Prague and the Czech Republic. That sounds like a dandy addition to the library. Amazon.co.uk is already selling pre-orders but not CAMRA.

Update: Evan even sent some pictures through including the cover mock up. These are all clickable thumbnails. Click them. You know you want to:

I added the gallery of Evan's photos now.
Welcome, Evan! I envy you -- the best Pilsner I ever drank was in Prague. I also really love the classic Czech beer glass (seen in the photos), with its elegant slightly curved lines. A perfect vessel for a half-litre of Czech golden goodness!

There are many things which are excellent in Prague and of course one of them is beer. It has really good quality and cheap. I think Prague has the best beer in the world. Czech people and tourist like beer very much and you can find it in any pub, cafe, restaurant- everywhere.
Everyone always RAVES about Prague so I was excited to be finally going there for a long weekend. The weather was excellent, the city was interesting and we didn't have any trouble with pick-pockets. We ate a lot of dumplings and drank a lot of beer. It was an interesting few days…and we did fall in love with Prague like most people do. It has a fabulous Castle, Cathedrals, Squares and it just did capture our heart.

Oh yes, being in Prague I drank more beer than ever. The Czech Republic is at world first place with sold beer in count to a citizen. It is 16 million hectoliters, 156, 5 liters to one person. But as brewing industry says, 15-20 per cents of sold beer in Czech Republic is drunk by foreigners visiting Prague and the Czech Republic. The quantity of a Czech beer sold abroad in is also rising. Beer is served almost everywhere in Prague restaurants, pubs, bars and even in breakfast cafés! It tastes terrific and it is cheap. Half a liter costs approximately 20 CZK. Now there can be no wonder about the reasons for the beer-tourism! More and more tourists come over to Prague only to drink price pleasant and at the same time high quality beer.
