Getting the scale of the thing into photos was hard given the closeness of the river and the interstate highway and the rail line. But that's why Taylor built his expanded brewery here, wasn't it. Transportation. Craig and I crawled around the place last evening. We think it is the building to the left in this 1850-60s advertisement. The other one likely held the pontoons Martyn discussed in 2009.
One of the best bits, however, was out back. There was a water pipe spewing into the Hudson. Two and a half years ago, we were wondering about the creeks. Craig did a handy overlay of the original three creeks with a Google map. Looks like Taylor built his brewery right over the outflow of the most southerly of the three, the by then covered over Beaverkill creek. Which would make sense as he was, at some point, the city's commissioner of water works and knew where the old stream flowed.
