Why is it that during the season that most people think of beer there are fewer beer stories out there to discuss? Well, the space between sowing and harvest is supposed to be a little bit of a gap. Or there really is no new news. Sure, we all know it is extremely unlikely that beer would ever go out of style. But what if beer news does? Gotta fight that fight. Here we go:
= > Is anyone surprised that collaborations are still being done? Thought they went the way of the food and beer dinner. Apparently you need to trick people to buy collaborations these days. What next, a free bag of cheese doodles?
=> I am all in favour of Boak and Bailey's call for long posts about beer. They have fixed the date of Monday, 2 September for bloggers to take a little more time and make a little more effort. Unlike, say, this half-assed post. That's what they mean, right? Right?
=> There was less about EBBC2013 on my radar than there should of been. Did people go and gain from it? Strikes me that this is one of those things that Simon would have discussed. Then it strikes me how much I miss his voice.
=> I had a revelation this week. I was served a snifter of a beer filled right to the rim. Twelve ounces of cheery Berliner Weisse. I needed to drink at least half of the beer to have any benefit from the snifter. So, what is the point of a snifter? Bring on the half-filled goldfish bowl. Grow up. Bring it on.
Summer. It's a Tuesday evening and I am daydreaming of Saturday afternoon pork shoulder smoking already. Time is both dragging and oddly racing. I don't want to wish away the days between now and autumn but I sure want to get to the good bits, too.
