This was in the stash. At the back. I am hoping the orange 15.95 sticker is somehow related to an inventory number and not the price. Not that I don't like the beer. I have always liked Hanssens' level of lambic acidity... but experimental raspberry?
It pours a slightly pinky medium amber that I got to know when I had that kidney stone. A sniff gives a snort-full of vinegar, apple and must. Quite a still beer but that's not an issue for me. Amongst the gums there is malt vinegar with an overlay of the raspberry of the cane, absent the sweetness. But a subtle overlay. Was that the experiment? Sliding in the least level of berry possible while still making it discernible?
BAers have questions. Plenty of questions about the price in particular. Was that the experiment? We've reviewed recently that there is no magic in the word "lambic" but one would hope there's a reasonable degree of integrity. Oh, for the days of their $4.99 gueuze.
