Toronto beer. A good pick for the game between cellar dwellers Toronto against Portland. Funny how Toronto is sponsored by the Bank of Montreal while Oregon's team is sponsored by Alaskan Airways. Home town proud.
Which does beg the question why that town to the west that needed a Kingston brewer two centuries ago now needs to make a tiki tribute. Who cares? After finding myself corrected by the brewer today, I thought I ought to do the decent thing and buy a six pack. $13.95 at the government store for these 6% brews is a strong statement but seeing as I had had a taste of this at the Brewers' Plate last April I was confident in the investment. Sweet tropical fruit on the nose from both the addition of pineapple as well as the hops. Not far off the juicy promise of the scent of Bengali Tiger. In the mouth, as good a balance of pineapple and IPA as I might have hoped for. A boost to the malt that does not mask. Another acid for the hoppy mix to play with. Plenty of grainy textures melting into the pineapple as well. As successful an integration of something that is not beer into beer as I have ever had.
Solid BAer respect. I will buy again and am happy to learn that it has made it to Easlakia from Weslakia.
