I am not really sure what to make of this month's topic for The Session:
One thing about drinking a lot of beer is that occasionally you’re going to have a bad one. Perhaps it was infected or spoiled by light. Perhaps the brewer or brewery was new and still working out the kinks on a particular style. Regardless, you couldn’t finish the beer in your glass and moved onto the next one.
For me living on the border with northern NY, "beer" and "redemption" mean one thing - what we can in Canada a bottle exchange. I am not sure how widely "redemption" is used in this way. It appears to be in Pennsylvania as well as New England. I think the photo above is making the point that the use of the word is strange and implies religious conversion to many.
I like Stan's take better than mine. A beer can seem to be redemption itself. But, if I was to fall in line with the topic's main thrust, I would point to my own sour beer studies - although I am still sure that Cantillon's Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru hates me.
