Notice there isn't much going on? I know I have. It is slow. Then I realized it's because everyone is on vacation. I am just back and, I have to admit, my brain is still in patio "yes, I will have some more" mode. I blame waiters. And waitresses. They bring you stuff you want and all they want in return is your credit card. Sure, there are all those beer laden Twitter feeds to follow but how many times can you read "Waiter brought me another [insert beach-y beer brand here]! X-L-NT!! I love [insert beach resort here]!!!" But that's not really about beer... right? It's something different... right?
⇒ Who knew that the stats proved Ontario corner stores are more reliable than the government store for checking IDs?
⇒ My long standing sponsors easytobook.com, a Dutch travel web site, has put up a beer label quiz. Not as easy as I expected. Needed a couple of Hail Mary answers.
⇒ Des de Moor has a great critical post on the GBBF - and, yes, he was a volunteer so there. Best line: "...choices were less than scintillating... veteran beer writer Roger Protz... had a hard time defending some of them..."
⇒ I don't really respect Gallup's numbers that seem to show too much year to year variation but it is interesting as a long term trend. Beer is dying in the US. Possible lesson: is a slightly bigger percentage of a collapsing market is a dead cat bounce?
⇒ You think you may have a drinking problem? Mr. B reminds you that you do not have a drinking problem.
There. You are caught up. Unless you are at the beach still in which case you will catch up when you get home. Unless... God, no... you didn't take your mobile web device thingies to the beach did you? Oh no. Sweet Lord, no.

Nice link. It is truly the righ ttime to remove the monopoly on beer sales enjoyed by the The Beer Store in Ontario. It is not a government organization - it is owned by a clique of the largest brewing companies in the world. They are not accountable to you or I and they do not represent our collective intersts and they are unburdened by healthy market competition.
Beer and wine in corner stores, grocery stores and specialty shops now!

It may not be a government organization but as a highly regulated monopoly gifted to the brewers it sure is the government store.

Damn Tusker and Pelforth! Never really associated Pelicans with France before.

18/20. Confused my Bulgarian and Romanian offerings, and that stinkin' Pelforth is a trick question. I got it on my fifth guess.

I only knew the Romanian one because of this post from five years ago.
We get Tusker as a regular shelf item at the LCBO so I breezed through there.
