Picked this up at the LCBO after work. $5.95 for 750 ml, it's taking a brave stand in a world where $2.45 gets you 500 ml of Schneider Weisse. Yet, Muskoka Cottage Brewery's take claims a worthy place amongst our monopolistic statist overlord's selection of south German wheats.
The aroma is spicy creamy. Maybe a little citrus peel in there but the label says there's none of those sorts of additions. It pours an attractive cloudy orange amber with masses of carbonation. In the mouth, a bit more husk than I expected from the wheat, a nip of black pepper, lightly banana-ed cream with drying grassiness.
They better make a bunch of this stuff as it's one of the best Ontario brews I have ever had. We don't get the fabled Denison's Weissbier out here in Easlakia but I would love to compare. This one is true to style and still stylish. Appetizing yet satisfying. I am thinking of a whack of broiled haddock with pepper, parsley, olive oil and orange slices. BAers know the love.
