OK, here is the thing about that super-dooper prize I mentioned a few days back. It's so super-dooper but in a really beer nerdy way that I can't believe it so I will type out the story from our prize giver Stan verbatum... except with some edits to make sure the private aspects of the story stay private:
This weekend my second copy of the Beer Hunter series (VHS) came home... I loaned to ...[deleted]... years ago (like more than 8). He "accidentally" ...[deleted]... when... [deleted]... and actually tried to mail it to...[deleted]... But by then we had [deleted]... and it returned to...[deleted]... At that point he apparently tossed it in a...[deleted]... When... [deleted]... was through the area recently he gave it to a mutual... [deleted]... who gave it to me. How I got lucky enough to buy a backup copy is an even longer...[deleted]... story. Anyway, I've heard that Discovery has another beer series, so thought maybe the set (six half-hour shows) might make a good prize in your contest. Before I commit, though, I need to watch the tapes to make sure they still view OK...
So, that is it. The unavailable, unaffordable, unbuyable Beer Hunter on VHS is now a prize in the Hogmanayny Yuletide-erriffic Kwanztastic Beer Blog 2010 Photo and Pencil Drawing Contest. OK, you can get it second hand... but you have to pay for it. From Stan? It's free. One problem: it is only on the North American format so this won't be going overseas. That would just be silly. What's that Knut? No, we don't care if you just want to hold it. No, you can't. No, Knut. Grow up.
Next, more photos - Rob Fullmer of Phoenix Arizona sent in these five for your... well, my consideration:
Scott Switalski Philadelphia, Pennsylvania sent in these four shots from a trip to Belgium last May:
Hannah Taylor, who entered one photo last night, added these four more today... and by they way, she is not from Wisconsin... she is from North Tonawanda, New York:
Jeff Alworth of Portand Oregon and the man behind Beervana is apparently not satisfied. See, he just won Zak's grand prize in his first annual beer blog writing contest and now he wants these prizes, too. I can't believe he sent in five entries here, too, trying to ingratiate himself with a great baby and beer picture, too:
Mike Lang of Dayton, Ohio sent in these five entries including a rather snazzy snow scene:
Finally for today, Joe Stange, of the USA but formerly resident in Belgium and currently living in Costa Rica, a prize giver himself, the very Thirsty Pilgrim incarnate has sent in these five entries - I like that one from behind the net from the box seats at RF Stadium, at a midsummer DC United game:
That's it for now. That catches me up to 1:33 pm this afternoon. Twenty-eight more entries in this last day with more in the hopper already. 146 entries so far over all. That is nutty. Nut. Tay. If you only knew how I actually judge these. It's effective but I am sure you would not be impressed.

Thanks for nothing. Maybe someone could buy me a copy of the new BrewMasters series then? No plans of airing it over here.
Knut - December 1, 2010 5:25 AM
I meant burn me a copy, not buy me a copy.

I think most of the last generation of PAL VCRs also read NTSC. Mine certainly does. Not that that's a hint or anything, I have The Beer Hunter in a cheeky pirate digital version.
Is that a black helicopter I hear..?

Look, for all I know you have submitted under an alias with a US postal address redirecting your mail. I am hounded by such loopholes. Haunted even.
Knut - December 1, 2010 9:13 AM
Well, you are a televsion star in your own right, Beer Nut, so the regular rules would not apply to you. I suppose we should all send parcels to Ireland to help you get through Christmas anyway.
The Beer Nut - December 1, 2010 10:05 AM
Hell yeah! Now we're talking. Pesky government squandered all our National Imperial Stout reserves. I need bailing out.
Joe Stange - December 1, 2010 3:24 PM
What is this VHS you speak of? Some sort of new way to watch movies at home? Will it work in my newfangled Betamax machine? The guy at the shop told me Beta was the future.
Alan - December 1, 2010 5:25 PM
Oh, that would have been so totally sweet. Only on BetaMax... or maybe having it only on 5¼ inch floppy disks. A set of 37.

My first thought was burning, too. But I wonder if it was done on too large and commercial a scale if we'd bring the fuzz down on us.
By the way, in my defense, I sent in these photos BEFORE that Zak win. And that child photo is my friend Shawn and his son Xander. I'll forward any prizes his way.
