Blame the inspiration from watching too many episodes of Man v. Food but I am going to break my own rule. You will recall my most precious long standing rule:

No photos of dishes of food with a beer next to it. They never win and they kinda make other people feel queasy. Your food is no better looking than your dog. Sorry to break the news.

Don't believe me? Think I'm harsh. OK, be fair with me. Look at that to the right, a portion of a submission from a few years back. I like the beer but LOOK AT THAT PLATE!!! Dear mother of God, what the hell is that? You are with me, right?

Yet, I think there must be more. There must be some proper moment to capture the image of beer and food. And when better than when the whole family gathers and the tensions rise? We have to be honest. The holidays can be hard. So if we work together for one glorious day to take photos of food and beer, maybe we can learn how you can get along with cousin Steve or aunt Betty.

So, I declare a special prize for US Thanksgiving no matter where you find yourself on this nutty planet of ours. Just make it look better than... that thing... up there. Please.
