I have not had a sip of beer or ale or anything from England's Thornbridge Brewery but brewer Kiwi Kelly Ryan's departure for his New Zealand home has gotten British beer bloggers totally Lady Di as they say "cheer-eo!" and dab their damp eyes with hankies. Kelly got verklempt right back at them. I mention this because Kelly and I had the most interesting chat about collaboration beers and value back at this post from last May. Best of luck to a pretty good guy.

Cheers Alan,
Enjoyed the blog conversation we had regarding collaboration brews earlier in the year. Am a regular reader of this blog and it's pretty cool to hear what's going on over the pond from you guys.
Let me know if you're ever visiting NZ!
All the best,
Kelly

No freakin' kidding. As I watched the tweets go by yesterday, I wondered if they were all just retweeting the same story. Nope, EVERYone seems to have posted an ode to Kelly.
I would expect something similar if Sam Calagione left Dogfish, but the number of American brewers who could get that kind of love in a single day is vanishingly small. Fritz Maytag's departure got only tiny notice by comparison. Fascinating.
