There is a lot going on with this label. A quote from Elizabeth I, a concise explanation of the history of IPA, that Surgeon General's warning as well as a very pleasant astronomical chart of the waxing and waning phases of the Earth when viewed from the moon. Oh - and "special release" a couple of times. The brewery says that its a one time 8% brew sent out into the world this past May. The bottle says 05 06 09. All that for $1.85 at City-wide Liquors in South Bend, Indiana.
This beer pours a very attractive glowing orange amber. Clouded with floaties under a fine rich cream coloured head. Smells of orange marmalade but not powerfully so. Just lovely in the mouth. Soft cream texture with a bit of heat growing at the back of the throat, biscuity malt down under tight layers of twig, pine and citrus hop, marmalade and pear juice with a bit of white pepper bite. This would make a great ice cream. Strong BAer respect.
My first Missouri beer. I wonder if they are all this good.

Like any state, MO beers are not all as good as Schlafly Export IPA. I mean, A-BInBev is head-quartered in St Louis. :) But MO has a lot of really good beers to offer. Also check out beers from Boulevard and O'Fallon

I forgot to finish that sentence with a winky face.
