Scotch ale au miel. Hmmm. 10.8%. Hmmm. Picked up at Marche Jovi for around $5.99 for 500 ml.
A nicely sweet rich complex aroma with plum, rum, licorice and maybe black cherry. Gorgeous deep chestnut under mocha cream froth and foam. Smooth and rich in the mouth and not as big as it might be. Sweet but not glomular at all. Well cut by both the seam of booze, a wedge of espresso and a light orange zesty effect (but not really a flavour) amongst all the deep dark sweet malt. All the dried dark fruit in the natural food store is in there with a drip of honey. Plenty of nutty grain and fresh water even with all that strength.
Solid. Love it. The one lone BAer agrees with me.

Since had their hefe / witt as well as the oatmeal stout. Both very fine.

I would be curious what you would think in revisiting this one and comparing it with the MacKroken Flower Grande Reserve, which is aged an additional 4 months (200% more!) in oak barrels. I find it sublime, others think it's merely good, many think it's overpriced ($17 for 750ml at BroueHaHa). Nonetheless, something to be experienced. :)
