Nothing deep or profound this evening. Just a thanks to the readers and, tonight, especially those on Google Reader. After six years of beer blogging, it has become harder to figure out how many people actually follow a blog given those followers on various aggregating services. But one, Google Reader, hit 5,000 followers recently. 5,011 today. I think I'm also glad that you are not all sending in photos to the beer blog Xmas photo contest. Thanks for that, too.

Alan, how did you figure that out? I'm mystified by the subscriber services. I use one for my own reading (I use Google Reader) but how did you determine how many people are reading you via a service like Google Reader?
Yours in freely admitted stupidity,
Maureen

Not at all. If you click on the feed for your own blog on Google reader, to the right there is a little "show details" link that has the information.

I use Google Reader, but I leave the occasional comment, so I am kind of tracked... sort of. You could try turning your rss feed to summary mode. Might give you a better idea of how many visitors you have.

I use Netvibes to scan the headlines, then I usually click through. Don't tell your advertisers.
