Stan brought me this one, triggered I think by this conversation instigated by Travis, developing into a bit of a pile-on but joined in by Josh of Flying Dog before it got channeled into a consideration of the concept of styles. All that and here was I never having tried one.
On the pour, this triple's a bright red tinged gold with only a thin white whisp for a head. The nose has a bit of heat, a little apple cider and icing. On the first swish, there is vanilla, peach and apple; some nutmeg within the boozy heat but also quite a bit of residual pale malt sugary goodness: icing with whisky in it. No, whisky with a dab of icing. You know what that is like. It reminds me a bit of a boilermaker but a tasty one. Quite still, as well.
Not a strong response from the BAers but fair enough I'd say.
