A Scotch ale from the good people of rural south-western Ontario's Neustadt Springs Brewery. And in a can. Our masters at the LCBO (aka "the government store") have decided that the 473 ml can is the way to go and those wanting to sell through them do well to fall in step. The best thing about it is that you are relieved from the need to buy the six pack given that from around 1995 to 2007 buying a single Canadian brewed beer was largely verbotten by our masters.
But what of the beer? On the nose crystal malt raisiny sweet with a slight musty or toasted note - moasty. Slightly reddened amber ale under a fine thick cream head. Lighter bodied fresh grain malty water with a nod to pale dried fruit cut by black malt toasting making for a significant tea dry sensation mid-swallow.
In Scotland this would be an Export or an 80/- but in Canada 4.5% is considered a light ale. Worthy and worth hunting out some Lake Huron smoked Splake to go with it. BAers are more B than A.

I hate cans. Some people like them because they don't break, but the ruin the tast and are tacky. The Ale however, is good, but they don't even list it as a product on their website. I have only been able to find it once.
