Extraordinary. A bottle that has slept for three years in the stash and has done well. While there is no yeast deposit filtering and refining, the mellow nature of the beer give you a sense that there as been some good done over the passage of time. Leather, black cherry, pear juice, and (a reference I expect you will not know) Scots tablet - a crumbly fudge of cream, butter and sugar. And also very much a bock. Soft water. A bit of a black tea finish. Rich clinging white sheeting lace over red amber ale.Strong but not staggering at 8%, this is a solid bock and one I may never have the opportunity to enjoy again. Good thing it's Friday. Good thing the Sox are on from Fenway and beating the Cards. Solid BAer support for the 2005.
