Hmmm...my servers sit in Canada's eastern Maritime Provinces in Charlottetown, capital of one of the the smallest jurisdictions in North America, Prince Edward Island. If you are reading this at noon on 30 January just after I post it, you may be doing so care of the good grace of batteries:
Most of P.E.I. was without power Wednesday afternoon as the province's utility was trying to deal with the aftermath of an ice storm. The storm started Monday and about one-third of the province was without power Wednesday morning. At 12:07 AT, the power went out in Charlottetown. CBC News has reports of the power being out in Souris and Montague in the east and Bonshaw in central P.E.I. The western part of the Island was already without power. We have 100 km winds here in most eatern Lake Ontario but 1500 km to the east of me out near the North Atlantic I think it may be even nastier right now. Let's see how this goes.

I remember the ice storm of '98. The T-Hip made Phantom Power after that and all the proceeds went to disaster relief. That was the year before I started at Potsdam, but it was a mess when I went up there.

Thoughts go back to our 5 days without power from Isabell in 2003. (At least we didn't need heat.) It really reminds one how dependent we are on electricity! Hope you stay warm. Gather up some RIS and make the most of it. :-)
Cheers.

All for nothing! The power returned after a few hours.
