This is one for the ages, a doozy in the annals of local politicians who twist themselves into knots to avoid saying beer is not spawn of the devil:
The tennis center, located across the street from City Hall, is where Selfon said she envisioned the sales taking place, but said she could see it expanded to other parks throughout the city. Don’t expect her to make a recommendation for beer sales on Lowdermilk Park beach anytime soon, though. "I wouldn’t like it at the beaches at all because I do think it is setting us up for rowdiness," Selfon said. "The youngsters wouldn’t get any, but it might create a social activity (at the tennis center)."The community in question is Naples, Florida. They don't put up with, you know, social activity breaking out when people want. Besides, they did vote to allow wine and champagne as part of an art center. But art gallery receptions aren't a social activity. See? It makes sense. Lean a little farther over to the side. See - it makes more sense now.

It's been a while since I have been in Naples, but if it's anything like I remember it, I doubt there are a lot of "youngsters" out and about. It was like Woodstock for the AARP down there.
