Once, when my firm was considering a new logo and had just received a new design it had paid for with the four letters of the acronym being placed in green boxes, I pointed out to the boss a seed catalog I had just received from a UK firm whose four letter firm name acronym in the same font was placed in identical green boxes. These things happen I suppose and design is funny stuff with rules and protocols we expect but not consciously.
These two covers are not identical yet the question they raise is this: would your brother or aunt be able to be clear on your recommendation for that book on beer and food when they went looking for it?

Thanks for noticing. I'd thought it was just my paranoia (humming CSNY).... but there's an interesting backstory to this, too. The book on the left was put together by the food editors and cookbook publishers at Sunset Magazine in California. A friend, Toni Allegra, told me that the publishers were working on a beer cookbook, but didn't tell me who the sponsor was. So, I sent the Sunset editors a copy of my Grilling with Beer cookbook and suggested they look at my website, beercook.com. So, they knew that I was working on the Best of American Beer and Food cookbook at the same time they were putting together the project for A-B.
My take is that it's always good to enlarge the category....and to have company on the bookshelf.
As for identifying the cookbook cover, remember that the Brewers Publications' cover features one of the top food groups: chocolate!
cheers, Lucy
