Or at least so reports Stonch. Does that make me a Stonch supporter?
...hungry giant Greene King snapped the pub up some years ago and introduced its own beers alongside Harveys. According the The Friends of The Lewes Arms, Harveys outsold GK beers three to one. Not content with making healthy profits by selling local people what they wanted to drink, GK decided to axe Harveys beers from the bar altogether...This led to the boycott, and hopefully will lead to GK restoring local beer to the bar at The Lewes Arms, or else selling out and shipping out. That is just ugly. I bought a couple of the rebrandy rebottley units of Old Speckled Hen this evening and so I will have to join in at a later point. But this is what happened... [Ed.: Warning! Click here only if you want to see a slow-loading 11.4 MB video, shot on its side, of a lesser crime against beer]... the last time I bought one of their brews so I am not in a particularly pro-Greene-King frame of mind. Here is the boycott's own website.

If you remember, the exact same thing happened to The Rising Sun, my old local in Epsom England when Youngs purchased it. They pulled off all of the non-Youngs beers and turned it on to another McPub. The bottom line is that the tied-house laws in the UK need to be completely scrapped.

Alan, I am sure the folks at the Lewes Arms will be really pleased you've supported them on this blog - I've let them know. Good man.
Now - on a lighter (or darker?) note - time to quaff a stout and review it for the Session...

I just had my coffee and am off to work. My review will have to wait another ten hours or so.
