A strong lager from the Heavy Seas line of Clipper City's brews. My Germanic confusion is triggered by a label that calls it both an uber pils and a golden bock. The Good Beer Guide Germany by Steve Thomas says those are two different things. Evan would know what to do. I do not.
I am left to focus on the fluid with only my wits to help me. The lager pours an attractive orange under a fine white foam and rim. The nose has orange and lime juice, but not marmalade, and another vegetable thing that is not the bad vegetable thing. On the slurp, bigger bodied almond nuttiness in under the pale bread crust graininess with citrus juiciness and some black pepper back there with a bit of heat from the 7%. Smooth and round but neither dulled or overly finessed. Yeast hinting of somewhere between yogurt and icing - maybe a tiny bit like the stuff on yogurt raisins but in a good way. One thin percent of BAers must not like yogurt raisins.
