From the Cropton Brewery - whose website has an e-commerce basket system offering free delivery throughout the UK. It would be interesting to know what their web sales are like as I am just hittig the part in Beer School where the Brooklyn Brewery guys make a wrong turn on to a ramp heading to the information super highway back in 2000-01.
Translucent chestnut ale with a rich cream froth and rim. On the nose, treacle and weeds in bloom. A bit of sour in the mouth but not lacking in body as with a failed batch - molasses and raisin, biscuit plus some tangy orange peel and raw lime juices. A very curious beer. CAMRA lists it under the "endangered style" of old ale. A 6% real ale listed in the Good Bottled Beer Guide without any great informational break through. Just that citrus fruit tanginess. Lots of good considerations from the BAers even with 13% saying no.
Lime juice and molasses cookie. Whoda thunk it?

I bought some of their beers the last time I was in London, and thery had far too much citrus in them for my taste. The Monkman was like sipping lemon juice.
They have a splendid Christmas ale, though, Rudolph's Revenge. From my tasting notes: Very fruity bitter, full maltiness balanced by lots of hops. Long dry finish. I wouldn’t mind a case of this in my cellar!
