I thought I was under some sort of email spam attack today - then I realized it was just the flood of entries for the first Good Beer Blog contest of 2007. So far we have Stan asking many questions and entries like Boston Bob's and this a poem. Now Jon of The Brew Site blog has forwarded his choices:
Okay, so I finally have some time to sit down and do the 3 beers thing, pulling from my "50 Beers" list. That is two votes for Rogue Shakespeare Stout but for two different purposes but at 6% wonder if it fits with the parametres for a session beer or a contemplative one. Much to think about. My unlimited keg beer: I think I'd have to go with a session-ish beer that's not too heavy yet doesn't skimp on substance... also, who knows for sure about the quality of water on this desert island? I may have to rely on my trusty bottomless keg for liquid refreshment. My pick would be for Young's Bitter.
My Friday bottle: I'm going to want something bracing, heavier, darker, just all around *more* for my Friday treat. I'm going with Rogue Shakespeare Stout - a meal in a bottle, and something that would go equally well with the various vegetation I've found myself with as well as the shellfish I'm collecting. And, on those Fridays that I don't feel like eating, Shakespeare Stout is quite a meal in itself anyway.
My Sunday bottle: Saison Dupont. I would never get bored with this beer, especially only having it once a week, and boredom on the island is a definite hazard! Plus, the bottles are big and heavy and I'm sure I could find all sorts of uses for them in my quest for survival. Perhaps in my spare time I'll cultivate the yeast from the bottle and experiment with a homebrewed island ale...
