France Loves British Beer

Some interesting stats from this article at the BBC's website today:

  • exports of British beer rose 21.2% in 2006.
  • exports to France represent 41.4% of British beer exports.
  • beer was the UK's third biggest food export in 2006 at 402 million pounds.
These stats are from a report by Food in Britain. Largely buoyed by exports to the expanded EU, it is important to remember that Canadians consume 21.1% of all tea from the old country. Sadly, I can't afford the 200 pounds I would have to fork out for the organization's Confectionery and Biscuit Report 2007.
