Interesting to note with US beer sales falling in all areas but craft brewing that the big boys are going to try and pretend that they are making tiny batch hand crafted ales of quality. To that end I give you Anheuser-Busch's new pumpkin ale.
A small prize if anyone actually tells us what it is like.

While I have not had any of Anheuser-Busch's faux micro-brews, but I have had Coors' faux micro, Blue Moon. Blue Moon Belgian White is actually quite good. While it may not have quite as much character as some real micros, it has the benefits of good quality control, and wide distribution. I never would have guessed that it was made by Coors based on the taste, yet I can find it at bars across the country. If more major breweries started producing beers like Blue Moon Belgain White, I would be a pretty happy about that.
On the other hand, the Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale tastes exactly like the swill I expect from a major American brewery. You win some, you lose some.

I think I may have a blue moon white in the stash down there in the <a href='http://www.genx40.com/images/beerblog/stash.JPG">lower right</a>. I will have to get it out and compare against other <a href='http://beerblog.genx40.com/archives/2004/june/fourwittes">wittes of the past</a>.
